SOUTHWEST BEATS SOUTHRIDGE BY A FIELD GOAL, 19-16
Gaby Nuñez scored four runs and picked up the win in relief as host Southwest outlasted Southridge, 19-16, Thursday afternoon at Tropical Park. The Lady Eagles, who ran their record to 6-0, scored three runs in the first and seven in the second inning to take a 10-3 lead. The Lady Spartans (3-6) scored three times in the third, once in the fourth and four more in the top of the fifth to go up 11-10. The see-saw battle continued with Southwest regaining the lead with three in the bottom of the fifth, Southridge scoring five in the top of the sixth and the Lady Eagles taking the lead for good with six in the bottom of the inning. Sophomore twin sisters Kianny and Kaylie Gil each had two hits and three runs scored with Kianny driving in 3 runs. Tatiana Perez had three hits and scored twice.
