14-RUN INNING CLINCHES
21-5 WIN OVER VARELA
Visiting Southwest scored 14 runs in the top of the fifth inning and scorched Varela, 21-5, Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles (3-3) might still be batting had Southwest players not mercifully stepped off the bag to give the Vipers (2-5) the second and third outs. Southwest only had six hits but Varela walked 20 batters. The Eagles stole an astounding 28 bases, including five for Tati Perez. Ami Casteleiro was 2-for-3 with two walks, three RBIs and three runs scored. Winning pitcher Perez allowed only two earned runs while striking out six.
