LADY
EAGLES ADVANCE TO CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Yessenia Perez tossed a one-hitter and D'Lani Navarro
drove in three runs to lead Southwest past Varela, 13-0, in the semifinals
of the district 16-6A tournament at Southridge. The Vipers bats, which
produced 21 runs a day earlier, were silenced by Perez, who struck
out ten and walked only one. The Lady Eagles (10-11) scored five runs
in the first inning, one in the second, three in the third and four
in the fourth before the 10-run rule kicked in after the top of the
fifth. Navarro knocked in the second run with a first inning triple
and drove in two more with a third inning single. Yesenia Fonticiella
also tripled and scored in the third. Southwest will face Lourdes
Thursday at 4pm at Southridge for the district championship. Varela,
which committed 10 errors in the game, completes its season with a
