EDGES LOURDES
In the closest game of the year, host Southwest scored
two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to edge Our Lady of Lourdes,
8-7, Thursday afternoon at Tropical Park. It is the third consecutive
victory for the Lady Eagles (9-10). The Bobcats (5-12) took a 2-0
lead in the top of the first inning before Southwest answered with
four in the bottom of the inning on four walks, two hit batsmen, an
error, a passed ball and four stolen bases. Lourdes scored three times
in the top of the fourth to retake the lead, 5-4. The Lady Eagles
scored twice in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly by D'Lani
Navarro and an RBI single by Ami Casteleiro. The see-saw contest saw
the Bobcats take a 7-6 lead with two runs in the visitors half of
the fifth. In the bottom of the frame, Tatiana Perez scored the tying
run on an error and Mia Acosta scored the eventual winning run when
she tagged and scored on a popout. Winning pitcher Yessenia Perez
allowed only one earned run on four hits while striking out six. Friday's
game at Florida Christian has been moved to 4pm. |
