Southwest scored multiple runs in every inning on its way to a 24-12 victory over Coral Gables in the semifinals of the District 15-7A tournament at Goleman Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Eagles (8-9) scored six runs in the first inning, two in the second, three in the third and eight in the top of the fourth to take an 19-0 lead. Southwest was three outs away from a 15-run rule win when the defense collapsed in the bottomn of the fourth. The Lady Cavaliers (7-5) scorred 12 runs on 6 hits (four of them of the infield variety), three hit batsmen, three errors and two walks. The Lady Eagles scored five more runs in the top of the fifth, and blanked Gables in the bottom of the inning, before the 10-run rule brought the game to a close. Sophomore Gaby Nuñez had four of Southwest's 18 hits and junior Yesenia Fonticiella added three. The biggest hits were triples by Caitlyn Gorelick in the first and Sherlly Roche in the fourth. Southwest will face Goleman in the championship game Thursday at 4pm at Goleman.
