LADY EAGLES ADVANCE TO DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP
Host Southwest scored 14 runs on just two hits to defeat Varela, 14-3, in the semifinals of the district 16-6A tournament Wednesday afternoon at Tropical Park. The game ended after six innings thanks to the 10-run rule. How does a team score 14 runs with only two hits? It's easy when your opponent commits 10 errors and walks nine batters. The only hits for the Lady Eagles (11-3) were a double by Sannaya Pardey and a home run by Kianny Gil. Tatiana Perez threw a four-hitter, striking out seven while walking only one. Southwest advances to the district championship game Thursday at 6pm at Palmetto Bay Park against Lourdes. |
