LADY EAGLES POUND HOMESTEAD, 23-7

Visiting Southwest overcame a 6-3 first inning deficit to rout Homestead, 23-7, Tuesday afternoon in a game stopped in the sixth inning by the mercy rule. Third baseman Ami Casteleiro led the offensive onslaught with three hits, five RBIs, two runs scored, a walk and a stolen base. Gaby Nuñez,Sherlly Roche, Ericka Noboa and Tatiana Perez each added two hits. Mia Acosta drove in three runs with a bases-loaded double. Perez recovered from a shaky first inning to get the complete game win, tossing a four-hitter. It was the season-opener for both teams.
