SEASON COMES TO AN END WITH PLAYOFF LOSS

Host South Dade pulled away in the second quarter and beat Southwest, 61-43, in the quarterfinals of the district 16-7A tournament Monday night. The loss ends the Eagles season with a record of 10-14. The Buccaneers (11-10) advance to the semifinals. South Dade beat Southwest by 33 earlier in the season but the Eagles played them evenly in the first quarter with the Bucs up only 9-7. South Dade started the second period with a 13-3 run and led 29-15 at the half. Southwest started the second half with a 10-2 run to pull within six, but the Buccaneers dominated the rest of the way.
