RAY BARE
Pitcher
Graduated: 1967
Inducted: 2024

In his senior season of 1967, Ray Bare had one of the most dominant seasons of any high school pitcher in Miami history. His school record of most strikeouts (17) in a 7-inning game still stands as does his record for 3 no-hitters in a season. Drafted out of high school, he decided to play for Miami-Dade Junior College instead. After two years at Dade, where he was named an all-American, he was drafted for the fourth time and signed with the Cardinals in 1969. Ray became the first Eagle to reach the majors three years later. He pitched two years with St. Louis and three with Detroit. Sadly, Ray passed away at age 44 from Leukemia. In 1967, the Miami Herald wrote the following:

We now have a Southwest Hall of Fame and are proud to posthumously honor Ray.
