Amy Dillon is the only athlete in Southwest history to be named the county's #1 player in her sport all four years of high school. In fact, as a junior, there were not enough girls to field a team, so she bowled with the boys team and still was high scorer before injuring her knee. Southwest's Silver Knight nominee in athletics, Dillon averaged 195 her senior season. She represented our school at the annual Emerging Leaders Conference and, as a sophomore, represented Florida at the Junior Scholarship National Finals in New York.
She went on to bowl at Wichita State University, a school that had won more national bowling championships (11 as of this writing) than any other college. She was named to the all-tournament team at the 2001 national championships and was named 2nd Team All-American. Dillon also bowled a 300-game that season. She bowled professionally after college and was inducted into Florida's Junior Bowling Hall of Fame. |
