The only All-American basketball player in Southwest history, 6' 6" Alan Fenty was a dominating presence under the basket. A two-time Miami News All-Star, he scored a total of 915 points his junior and senior seasons. Fenty's strength was his consistency. His senior year he was held to less than 15 points only twice. As a junior Fenty averaged
18.2 points/game and 15.2 rebounds/game and, as a senior, those numbers rose to 25.6 points/game and 19.8 rebounds/game. After high school, he went on to play under legendary coach Bobby Knight at Army, where one of his teammates was a young Mike Krzyzewski. After a 27-year military career serving his country around the globe, he retired at the rank of Colonel.
