The Lady Eagles (2-2) led, 29-21 with just over three minutes remaining when the Vipers scored 11 unanswered points to take a 32-29 lead with 55 seconds on the clock. Sophia Piñeiro hit two free throws with 0:36 showing to cut the deficit to one. After two Varela free throws with 20 ticks left made it 34-31, Piñeiro hit two more from the line to again cut the margin to one with 21 seconds to go. That set the stage for Carreras' game-winner. |
