DELANCY SCORES 2 TDs IN 24-21 LOSS

Southwest battled back to tie the game in the fourth quarter before falling to Coral Reef, 24-21, Friday afternoon at Tropical Park. The Eagles (1-3) scored first when quarterback Deandre Pique found Antwan Delancy, Jr. for a 20-yard touchdown pass with 3:35 left in the first quarter. The drive was setup by a 53-yard interception return by Damar West. The Barracudas (3-2) scored twice in the second period to take a 14-7 halftime lead. Reef scored again with 4:10 remaining in the third period to go up, 21-7. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Pique completed a pass to Angel Gonzalez, who eluded defenders on his way to a 63-yard scoring play. After a Barracudas punt, the Eagles needed only one play, a 74-yard catch-and-run by Delancy. Santiago Pernalete's kick tied the score at 21-21 with 6:09 on the clock. Reef then drove to the Southwest 17-yard line and connected on a 34-yard field goal to take the lead with 1:51 remaining. After Delancy's kickoff return gave the Eagles the ball at their own 38, Pique completed three consecutive passes to move the ball to the Barracudas 20-yard line. The officials then made a costly error when they penalized Southwest 17 yards for offensive holding. Under a rule change this year, the holding penalty should have been 10 yards from the line of scrimmage, not 10 yards from the spot of the foul. With the Eagles moved back to the 37 and only 12 seconds left, two incomplete passes ended the game. Southwest was hurt by the absence of injured star Derrick Ferguson.
