TWO SCHOOL RECORDS FALL AT YOUTH FAIR MEET
The Southwest relay teams broke two school records at the Dade County Youth Fair High School Championship at Tropical Park. The boys 4 x 800 team (David Bush, Jonathan Bernard, Tony Rodriguez, Frank De La Cruz) finished in a time of 8:39.09 (8th overall) besting the 10-year-old school record by 8 seconds. The 4 x 400 team (Tony Rodriguez, Chris Brice, Fanelle Andrus, Frank De La Cruz) also set a school mark with a time of 3:44.90 (10th overall), topping the previous record by more than 2 seconds. Ten Southwest athletes set personal records Saturday. Tony Rodriguez finished 2nd overall in the Long Jump with a jump of (6.22 meters/20 ft. 5 inches) and achieved a personal best in the 400 meters with a time of 56.90 seconds. Frank De La Cruz placed 3rd overall in the 400 meter dash with a personal record time of 50.82 seconds.Other personal records recorded Saturday:

Sarah Delmazo in the 400 meters (1:05.68) and Long Jump (4.14 meters/13 ft 7 in.)
Derrick Telleson in the Discus Throw (24.60 meters/80.08 ft)
Jose Rodas in the 1600 meters (5:43.99)
Victor Hassing in the 1600meters (5:49.61)
The boys team finished 15th overall out of 23 schools with a total of 15 points.
