LADY EAGLES WIN ON
SENIOR NIGHT, 13-8

Host Southwest jumped out to an 8-1 lead and held on for a 13-8 victory over American Friday night at Tropical Park. The game was preceded by a ceremony honoring the four graduating seniors. The Lady Eagles (7-10) scored twice in the bottom of the first inning with both runs coming on two of the nine errors committed in the game by the Patriots (6-5). American scored one in the top of the second but Southwest answered with two in the bottom of the inning with senior Yesenia Fonticiella racing home on a passed ball and Gaby Nuñez driving in Tatiana Perez with a single. Four walks and two more errors allowed the Lady Eagles to extend their margin to 8-1 in the third frame. American rallied with 3 runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth to narrow the score to 9-8. The Patriots had the bases loaded before senior Yessenia Perez recorded a strikeout to get out of the fifth. Southwest added three insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth. Senior D'Lani Navarro drove in Sherlly Roche with a sacrifice fly, Ami Casteleiro singled home Nuñez and Fonticiella doubled home Casteleiro.
