LADY EAGLES DROP OPENER, 4-3

Host Krop's run in the bottom of the fifth inning broke a 3-3 tie and gave the Lightning a 4-3 season-opening victory over Southwest Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a D'Lani Navarro triple. Krop answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning. Each team scored single runs in the third and fifth frames. Yesenia Fonticiella had a double for the Lady Eagles. Southwest got a runner aboard in the final inning on a two-out single by Sherlly Roche, but couldn't get the tying run in.
