Raul Duany was named head coach at Southwest in October, 2019. The third consecutive Eagles coach to have worn the purple and white, he played under long-time head coach Tom Moore in the mid 1980s. Duany has more than 20 years of coaching experience and most recently has been coaching Miami Dynasty, an AAU program, that he started in February, 2016. The program grew quickly and now has more than 125 boys and girls, ages 5-18 years old, participating on different recreational and travel teams. His high school squads won back-to-back AAU Southeast National championships in 2018 and 2019. He is AAU, USA Basketball and NCAA licensed; certified by the Positive Coaching Alliance and the American Coaches Association; and is a member of the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches.
