EAGLES ROUT VIPERS, 72-53

Southwest played its best offensive game of the season in a 72-53 victory over visiting Varela Tuesday night. It was the most points scored by the Eagles in 370 days, when Southwest defeated Hialeah, 75-66. The Eagles came out firing on all cylinders and jumped out to a 9-2 lead thanks to a full court press and early three-pointers by Dylan Jaxon, David Fanning and Juan Castell. Southwest (4-5), which has already doubled last year's win total, made six treys in the game. Already leading 41-32 at the half, the Eagles put the nail in the coffin by outscoring the Vipers, 17-8, in the third period. Varela fell to 2-6.
