SOUTH DADE WINS FIRST, 54-38

Host Southwest struggled offensively in a 54-38 loss to South Dade Thursday night. The Eagles (3-5) trailed, 15-8, after one quarter and the Bucs (1-3) scored the first 12 points of the second period before Alejandro Diaz hit a free throw with 1:07 on the clock to make it, 27-9. Ivan Fonseca's 6-point third quarter cut the South Dade lead to 38-23 entering the final period.
