EAGLES WIN 6th STRAIGHT

Carlos Taveras scored 27 points, pulled down 14 rebounds and dished out six assists to lead visiting Southwest to a 74-61 victory over Ferguson Tuesday night. The Falcons (2-5, 1-1), playing better than their record would indicate, jumped out to a 10-5 lead midway through the first quarter. After a timeout, the Eagles (6-1, 2-1) rallied to tie the score at 18-18 at the end of the period. The game remained very close throughout the second quarter with Southwest using a final-minute burst to go the the locker room with a 39-33 lead. Taveras scored 14 points in the third quarter as the Eagles extended their margin to 61-49 entering the final eight minutes. Ferguson was unable to cut the lead to single digits and Southwest extended its winning streak to six games, three shy of the school record set last season.
