EAGLES WIN 5th CONSECUTIVE GAME, 45-41
Orlando Fletcher scored 8 of his 11 points in the second
half as Southwest held off host Braddock, 45-41. The Eagles (5-2,
2-1) had a double-digit lead early in the fourth quarter but the Bulldogs
(1-5, 0-4) cut the margin to 43-41 with less than 30 seconds left.
Albert Hernandez, who also had 11 points, hit both ends of a 1-and-1
with 11.5 seconds left to put the final nail in the coffin. Chris
Murray had 6 rebounds and Jean Grullon had 3 assists and 2 steals.
The victory was the fifth in a row for Southwest, the longest streak
for the Eagles since they won six in a row during the 2009-2010 season.
JV WINS SECOND STRAIGHT, 39-35
Eddy Ramirez scored 16 points and Darian Garcia added 13 to lead the junior varsity over host Braddock, 39-35. Ramirez hit three 3-pointers and Garcia sank two from long range for the Baby Eagles (2-5).
