EAGLES SLAY DRAGONS

Host Southwest overcame poor free throw shooting to defeat Pinecrest Glades, 71-56, Monday night. The Eagles (3-3) have now exceeded last season's win total just a quarter of the way through the season. Southwest, which made just eight of 23 shots from the line, started so slowly head coach Roberto Fatjo removed all five starters just 53 seconds into the game. Trailing in the second quarter, the Eagles rallied to take a 36-33 lead at the intermission and started to pull away in the second half. The Dragons fall to 4-2.

JV WINS FIRST, 66-55

Andres Argueta scored 18 points, and Giancarlo Pagliaroni added 17, to lead the junior varsity to its first win of the season, 66-55, over Pinecrest Glades Monday night. Raul Rodriguez, with 12 points, was the only other Baby Eagle in double figures. The win was the first for new JV coach Gino Macias at his alma mater.
