Carlos Taveras, returning from a one-game absence due to a sore back, picked up where he left off by scoring 33 points and pulling down 12 rebounds to lead host Southwest to a 57-45 victory over Booker T. Washington Tuesday night. Taveras scored 12 of the Eagles 13 first quarter points as Southwest (3-1) took a 13-11 lead. By halftime, Taveras had 21 points and the Eagles were up, 28-26. Both Taveras and the Tornadoes (1-1) had 12 points in the third quarter as Southwest extended its lead to 46-38. Josnel Aloma had eight rebounds and Ray Perez had 4 steals for the Eagles. Taveras is averaging 30.3 points per game this season.
