HISTORY! EAGLES WIN FIRST STATE PLAYOFF GAME SINCE 1959

Chris Murray had 19 points and 7 rebounds to lead Southwest to a 50-46 victory over host Southridge in the quarterfinal game of the Region 4-9A tournament. It is the first win win for the Eagles (16-9) in the state tournament since 1959, the year Southwest won its only state championship in the sport of basketball. The game was close all the way with five lead changes. Southwest's biggest lead was seven points and it's biggest deficit was four points. The Eagles were up 10-9 after one quarter, 24-23 at the half, and 39-34 entering the final period. It was still a one possession game in the final seconds with the Spartans (17-6) down three. Jean Grullon had a big game with 14 points and four rebounds. Justin Pratt recorded three steals. Southwest is two wins away from a Final Four appearance but their next opponent is South Miami, a team it has lost to three times this season. The Regional semifinal is Tuesday at 7pm at South Miami.
