Southwest scored only five points in the second quarter and it cost the Eagles their final regular season game. Host Killian (17-6), which dropped a preseason game to Southwest, recorded a 62-55 victory. With the teams ties 15-15 after one quarter, the Cougars took advantage of center Chris Murray being on the bench with two fouls to take a 28-20 lead at the half. Murray, who did not score in the first half, came out on fire in the third quarter scoring 13 points as the Eagles (14-8) pulled within one point with 2:20 left in the period. They were never able to pull even. Murray finished with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Southwest will face Coral Gables in the semifinals of the district 15 tournament February 13 (see below). The junior varisty lost to Killian, 46-42, to end their season with a 12-9 record. The scoring:

Third-seeded Southwest will open district tournament play Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 5pm against number two seed Coral Gables. The game will be followed by #4 Columbus taking on top-seeded South Miami. The winners of the two semifinal contests advance to both the district championship game Friday night at 7pm and the regional tournament quarterfinals on Thursday, Feb. 22. All three district tournament games will be played at Coral Park. Southwest last advanced to the regionals in 2010.
