Albert Hernandez hit seven three-pointers, Dayn Lopez drained six and Justin Pratt added four to lead Southwest to an 87-77 overtime victory at Ferguson. The Eagles (11-9, 5-6) pulled even in the district with Columbus, who lost to South Miami creating a tie for the final playoff spot in the district. The Explorers visit Southwest Saturday for a 5pm showdown that will determine the fourth seed in the tournament. The first 80 fans will get a copy of the poster below. The Falcons, who were short three players, jumped out to a 14-4 lead before the Eagles tied it midway through the second quarter and led 34-26 at the half. Ferguson scored the first nine points of the third quarter to re-take the lead. The game was close throughout the fourth period and Chris Murray scored in the paint with 9.7 seconds left to send the game into overtime. Southwest scored the first eight points of the overtime period, two 3-pointers by Hernandez and a 2-point field goal by Pratt, to take command. Murray had another double-double with 15 rebounds and 13 points. His third quarter dunk was his sixth of the season, one shy of the school record. He also added 5 assists as did Pratt. The scoring:

The Southwest junior varsity outscored host Coral Park 24-4 in the final quarter to complete a stunning comeback and defeat host Ferguson, 39-31. Carlos Luis had 11 of his 14 points in the fourth period and his 3-pointer with 2:07 left gave the Baby Eagles (9-11) their first lead. Southwest has added a JV game Friday, January 27, at 5:30pm at Florida Christian.
