EAGLES BLOW OUT SUNSET, 65-38 HERNANDEZ BREAKS 3-POINT RECORD

Albert Hernandez hit a school-record nine three-pointers to lead Southwest to a 65-38 non-district victory over visiting Sunset. Hernandez erased a record set 29 years ago by Leo Ramos and tied 7 years ago by Gio Gonzalez. The junior finished with 34 points, four shy of the record shared by Ramos and his nephew Alex. His 12 field goals were 3 short of Ramos' record. The Eagles (9-8) outscored the Knights (7-9) 18-6 in the second quarter to break open a close game. Orlando Fletcher had 11 rebounds and 3 steals, Justin Pratt had 6 assists and Chris Murray rejected 5 shots. The scoring:

RODRIGUEZ LEADS JV PAST SUNSET

Kevin Rodriguez scored 22 points, pulled down 6 rebounds and stole the ball three times to lead Southwest's junior varsity past visiting Sunset, 68-50. Carlos Luis had 11 points and Darian Garcia added 10 for the Baby Eagles (8-9).
