Ray Perez had 34 points, including 12 after regulation play, to lead host Southwest to a thrilling 70-66 triple overtime victory over Sunset Tuesday night. The Eagles (11-4) played their second consecutive game without injured star Carlos Taveras, but Perez more than picked up the slack. Sebastian Ching's layup with 1:54 left in regulation tied the game at 47-47 and, when the Knights (6-8) missed two free throws with 1:12 remaining, the game went to overtime. Perez scored the first four points of the first extra period but Sunset came back to tie it at 53-53. The Knights again missed two free throws with 7.3 ticks on the clock and the game headed to a second overtime. Perez provided more heroics when his three-pointer with 6 seconds left tied the game at 60-60 and forced a third overtime. Ching made five points in the third extra period to seal the win. Jaycee Ruiz had seven rebounds, Josh Fernandez had three steals and Perez dished out three assists. There have been no other triple overtime games in the last 13 seasons of Southwest basketball.
