Trailing by four at the half, Southwest (8-3) outscored Orlando's Maynard Evans High, 17-6, in the third quarter on its way to a 51-44 victory in the opening round of the Holiday Hoopla tournament at Vero Beach High School. Albert Hernandez had three 3-pointers in the decisive third period and finished with a game-high 22 points. The Eagles were up by twelve with 45 seconds remaining before the Trojans (5-5) scored seven quick points to cut the margin to five with 12 seconds left. Southwest rebounded well against the taller Evans team with Chris Murrray pulling down 9, Hernandez grabbing 7 and Eddie Ramirez nabbing three. The Eagles play a semifinal game Friday at 6pm.
