EAGLES EVEN RECORD AT 5-5

Alejandro Diaz scored ten of his 14 points in the second quarter to lead host Southwest to a 56-54 victory over Schoolhouse Prep Thursday night. The improving Eagles, coming off a 2-22 season, evened their record at 5-5. The Wolf Pack (2-8) led 12-11 after one quarter before Diaz' big quarter put Southwest up, 29-23, at the half. With 4:05 remaining in the game, Josue De-La-Torre widened the lead to 10 points when he swished a trey from the corner after a beautiful cross-court pass from David Fanning, Schoolhouse Prep rallied to cut the lead to two and had a chance to tie it with 23 seconds left when Ethan St. Prix came up with a huge block, swatting the ball out of bounds. A traveling call with 0:09 on the clock gave the ball back to the Eagles and, after two missed free throws by Southwest, a half-court heave at the buzzer was off the mark.
The scoring:
Alejandro Diaz 14
Dylan Jaxon 11
Ethan St. Prix 9
Josue De-La-Torre 8
Ivan Fonseca 4
Juan Castell 3
Emmanuel Cedeno 3
Jaydrian Paz 2
David Fanning 2
