Host Palmetto hit 14 three-pointers to defeat Southwest Tuesday night, 80-55. The Eagles, playing their season opener, hung close for the first 15 minutes against the Panthers (4-0), one of the top teams in the county. Palmetto led, 28-26, with a minute left in the first half but, by the end of the third quarter, were up 52-37. The loss spoiled the debut of new Southwest coach Rick Landera.
