Head coach Roberto Fatjo
Roberto Fatjo was named head coach at Southwest on February 24, 2014. Fatjo, who played basketball for the Eagles (class of 2003), returned to his alma mater in 2009-10 as a science teacher and served as the assistant junior varsity coach before becoming head JV coach the following season. He also assisted Moore with the varsity team. His final JV squad finished with a 10-6 record, the most wins for a Southwest JV team since the 1995-96 squad went 11-7. The team took a nine-game winning streak into the season finale, a controversial loss to Columbus. Fatjo's 2015-16 varsity team finished 13-10, the first winning season for Southwest in six years and only the sixth winning season in close to 50 years. The Eagles won both regular season games against Columbus for the first time in 18 seasons. The 41 point victory over iMater academy would have been a school record for largest victory margin had it not been a preseason game. Other dominant wins included 38 points over RR-Doral, 35 points over Coral Park, 29 points over Killian and 21 points over Braddock. Fatjo has also been head varsity coach of the Southwest boys cross-country team as well as the boys water polo squad.
