Julian Rivas

Veteran Tamiami basketball league coach Julian Rivas replaced Roberto Fatjo as junior varsity coach in 2014-15. His 2015-16 team finished 13-6 and won two-thirds of their district games. SWEaglesSports.com has junior varsity records going back to the 1995-96 season and no JV team over that period had a better record. The win over Columbus was the first by the JV in 14 years and Southwest also defeated South Miami, 45-33. Rivas is a senior systems analyst for Miami-Dade County's Water & Sewer department and is a graduate of FIU. His son Jordan is a former player at Southwest.

 

Nick Ronda

Nick Ronda, a 2000 graduate of Southwest, is the former head coach at Killian where his team advanced to the regional finals (the Elite Eight of the state playoffs). Prior to taking over at Killian, Ronda had been the assistant coach to former Eagle Chris Brown at both Ferguson and Palmetto. He attended the University of Miami where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration; Management & Organization degree. Later, he got his MBA from Nova-Southeastern University. Ronda founded a college basketball recruiting service, 305hoops.com.

 

Josel Aloma

Josel Aloma, a 2015 graduate of Southwest, joins the staff as assistant junior varsity coach. Aloma also substitute teaches at Southwest.

 

 

 

 

 


 

Gino Macias

Gino Macias, a 2016 graduate of Southwest, served as team manager for the Eagles before being promoted to graduate assistant prior to the 2017-18 season.
