EAGLES COME FROM BEHIND TO WIN SEASON OPENER

Southwest, which trailed by eight late in the third quarter, rallied to defeat host South Dade, 42-37, Tuesday night in the season opener for both teams. Thiago Bourroul, who led all scorers with 22 points, hit seven of eight free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. The Eagles cut the deficit to 33-29 on an Alejandro Soto basket with 2:20 remaining. Thirty-two seconds later, Bourroul hit his third 3-pointer of the game to pull Southwest within one point. Giancarlo Tarrau's trey at the 1:18 mark put the Eagles up 35-33 and the Buccaneers never caught up.
