Terry Brumfield is the first member of the Hall of Fame to serve Southwest in three capacities; as a player, coach and administrator. As a senior, Terry was a first team All-County third baseman on a team that went 20-2. He also shined in American Legion baseball, where he batted .310 and was named to the District All-Star First Team. He went on to star at Miami-Dade Junior College and Southern Illinois University. While at SIU, he set NCAA post-season records for most homers in a game with 3 and most total bases in a game with 12 in a win that sent the Salukis to the College World Series. After a successful stint coaching at Miami Beach, Terry came back to Southwest as head baseball coach from 1979-84, winning 62% of his games including a district championship in 1981. After concluding his coaching career at Coral Park, he returned home one final time, this time as Assistant Principal. Terry passed away in 2021.
