Stephanie Nuñez transferred to Southwest for her junior year and immediately made an impact on Eagles athletics. As a junior, she earned second team All-Dade for softball, while also playing basketball. In her senior season, Stephanie added badminton to the mix, and was named first team All-Dade in softball after batting .525 and playing in the Florida All-Star game. She went on to play college softball at Miami-Dade South before returning to Southwest as a science teacher and coach. Stephanie served as junior varsity basketball coach (and recorded an undefeated season) and assistant softball coach before becoming head softball coach in 1995. Her 1999 team won Slamfest, and finished 20-10 after losing a 14-inning game to Sunset in the regional quarterfinals.
