Richard Rump
Baseball, Basketball, Football, Bowling
Graduated: 1965
Inducted: 2026

A superb bowler who had a 300-game to his credit, Richard Rump's bowling exploits first got him mentioned in the local newspaper when he bowled a 446 set in 9th grade. But it was Richard's skills on the diamond, gridiron and basketball courts that made him well-known at Southwest. Baseball was his best sport as an Eagle, earning him first team All-County honors. In 1965, he caught two no-hitters, calling all the pitches for both games. After high school, Richard played at Miami-Dade Junior College before entering the air force to serve his country in Korea. He also served on our Hall of Fame committee for three years. Sadly, Richard passed away in October, 2025, but his smile and friendship will be remembered forever.
