Julio Arnaiz earned six letters at Southwest in football, volleyball and soccer, but is best known for his skills on the volleyball court. As a senior, he was not only the Miami Herald's Boys Volleyball Player of the Year, but also MVP of the FHSAA state tournament as he helped the Eagles go 31-0 and win the state championship. Afterwards, Julio was honored with the title of Florida's Mr. Volleyball, emblematic of the state's top player. He played three years of volleyball and soccer at division II Mount Olive College in North Carolina and finished up his college career as a defender on Barry University's soccer team. Julio then went into coaching, first as an assistant at Southwest, then as head coach and athletic director at St. Brendan. In 2021, he was the named the Herald's girls volleyball co-Coach of the Year at Doral Academy charter school, where he remains head coach. Julio was Coach of the Year a second time in 2023.
