Southwest has retired only two baseball uniform numbers in its history; 8 for Andre Dawson and 22 for Carlos Castillo. While Dawson undoubtedly had the greatest pro career, Castillo had the greatest high school career. He still holds the school records for longest hitting streak (22), most runs scored in a career (66), most hits in a career (101, tied in 2018), most homers in a career (24), most RBIs in a career (95), most bases on balls in a career (48), most pitching appearances in a career (43), most wins in a career (24), most strikeouts in a career (201), most homers in a season (9), most pitching appearances in a season (18), most wins in a season (13), most saves in a season (5, tied with 2 others), and most strikeouts in a season (108, tied). Carlos held other records that have since been broken. He was 3rd team All-State as a sophomore and 1st team all-state as both a junior and senior. Carlos was drafted in the 3rd round by the Chicago White Sox and, after three years in the minors, he made his MLB debut at age 21 in 1997. He pitched three years for the White Sox and one year for the Red Sox.
