Dahively Ortiz came off the bench to score 12 points and lead host Southwest to a 44-8 season-opening victory over Coral Park Monday afternoon. Sophomore Jessie Carreras and freshman Maya Vivas-Acevedo added ten points each. The Lady Eagles held the Rams without a point until 3:15 remained in the first half. Southwest led 7-0 after one quarter, 17-2 at the half, and 38-7 entering the final period. When the lead reached 35 points with 4:28 left in the fourth quarter, the remainder of the contest was played with running clock. It was the most lopsided victory for the Lady Eagles since they beat Braddock, 62-15, on Dec. 21, 2017.
