EAGLES DEFENSE DOMINATES FERGUSON, 13-2

On a day the Southwest offense struggled, the defense pitched a shutout as the Eagles defeated Ferguson, 13-2, at Tropical Park. Jonathan Campos got the Eagles on the board in the first quarter with a 36-yard field goal. The Falcons appeared to take the lead on an 82-yard run by Chris Oester, but it was nullified by an inadvertent whistle, a call which enraged the Ferguson coaches. Six seconds into the second quarter, Campos made it 6-0 with a 32-yard field goal. With 6:36 on the clock before halftime, Southwest was penalized for intentional grounding in the end zone, by rule a safety for the Falcons. The score stayed 6-2 until 1:34 remained in the game when quarterback Jordan Worley connected with Nick Watson on a 33-yard scoring pass. The Eagles are now 4-1, 2-0 in district play. Ferguson is 1-5 and 0-2. The stats are here.
