EAGLES BEAT MIAMI HIGH FOR 6th STRAIGHT TIME, 34-0

Deondre Henry ran for two touchdowns to lead Southwest past Miami High, 34-0, at Tropical Stadium. The win was the sixth straight for the Eagles (2-1) over the Stingarees (1-2). Southwest scored on its first possession on a 65-yard drive highlighted by a 44-yard pass from Jordan Worley to Jason Baker. Henry ran it in from 2 yards out for the touchdown and Jonathan Campos' extra point made it 7-0. The defense added two scores in the second quarter as a safety by Jayvon Only and a fumble recovery in the end zone by Christian Dukes made it 16-0 at the half. On the Eagles' second offensive play of the third quarter, Henry scored on a 39-yard run to make it 22-0. Three minutes later, following a Worley interception and return, backup quarterback Fanelle Andrus connected with Nick Watson on a 28-yard scoring strike to increase the lead to 29 points. Dukes intercepted a pass on Miami High's next play and set up a 34-yard field goal by Campos. Xzavier Broche recorded a safety late in the third quarter to round out the scoring. Next week's district opener against Braddock has been moved from Southridge Stadium to the campus of Southwest High. The new kickoff time Friday is 3pm. The stats are here.
