EAGLES LOSE TO SPRINGS, 52-14

The first 13 minutes of Thursday's game at Tropical Park went well with the game tied at 14-14. The remainder of the contest did not go as well as visiting Miami Springs pulled away for a 52-14 victory. The highlight of the evening was the opening kickoff, which Artavis West ran back 95 yards for a touchdown. The return broke the school record of 90 yards set by Hank Hall in 1962. The Golden Hawks (1-1) bounced back to take a 14-6 lead after one period. On the second play of the second quarter, Matthew Lefevre ran it in from one yard out. A two-point conversion pass from Pedro Cabrera to Christian Espinal tied the game up. Then Springs scored 38 unanswered points. The Eagles (1-1) play South Miami Wednesday night at 7pm at Tropical Park.
