An excellent student, Jorge reached base 43% of the time as a sophomore and 40% of the time as a junior. In the semifinals of the district tournament last season, his clutch 2-out double broke a 1-1 tie. He had a two-run double in the championship game of the Dave Westberry PAL Classic and a 2-run triple in the victory over Pace. His walk-off double beat Varela in 2016. Jorge came to the United States from Cuba in 2014. In 2015, he played JV ball as a freshman at South Dade High.
